World of Battles is a multiplayer, real-time, tactical war game with RPG elements, where players command fantasy armies in battles, alone or as part of a team, with other players from all around the world.

1. Army
You may choose one of the World of Battles races and create an army. This multiplayer game offers a choice of nine races, divided between three alignments. Good side is represented by Knights, Dwarves and Elves, while Dark Elves, Orcs and Undead have chosen the way of Evil. Beast Folk, Barbarians and Amazons are considered Neutral. Your army represents you in World of Battles.

At the beginning of the game, your army can include up to six active units (later this number can be increased to 16 active units and 200 reserve units). You can create, design and equip your army according to your tactical, strategic and aesthetic preferences.

Each player can have up to 10 different armies. Each one is independent and has its own list of units, equipment, rating and in-game gold balance.

2. Controlling your Army
In order to be effective in battles, your army must:
-Participate in battles, earning gold and experience;
-Acquire new units and increase squad limit;
-Equip units with suitable weapons, equipment and items;
-Test different army compositions, choosing the one most suited to your personal preferences and playing style.

Any time you want, you can experiment with troops of another race or try again "from scratch" by simply creating a new army.

3. Units
Units are the main battle elements of your army. There are different types of units - infantry, cavalry, archers, pikemen; each of which can be light (more mobile in battle) or heavy (more resilient and hard-hitting). During the battle each unit is controlled separately.
To prepare your units for battle you may:
-Purchase weapons, equipment, items and potions for your units;
-Equip your units with purchased goods;
-Upgrade unit stats and skills with experience received from battles.

4. Equipment

Of course, the main purpose of a unit is battle, and unit's main equipment are weapons. There are many different weapons in World of Battles- see here

You can teach your unit how to use their weapon(s) more effectively by spending experience. Your choice of weapon impacts battle efficiency and decides the specialization of your unit - whether it will be assaulting, defending or supporting.

Beyond weapons, your units can wield several other different kinds of equipment:
-Shields (bucklers, medium or tower shields);
-Armor suits (light, medium or heavy);
-Helmets;
-Greaves;
-Mounts (for cavalry units).

Equipment can substantially change the stats, skills and even the tactical designation of a unit.

And third kind of equipment that your units could use are Items. Each unit can carry bought items in their inventory to be used during battle. These items are:
-Amulets;
-Belts;
-Earrings;
-Rings;
-Magical Potions, which temporarily increase stats of the unit using them.

All these items can significantly influence both the outcome, and the course of the battle.

5. Army Points
Each unit's relative combat efficiency is measured in AP - Army Points. AP depends on the unit's stats and equipment. The stronger the unit is, the bigger the AP. The total sum of all units' AP equals the AP value of the army.
As a rule, in World of Battles most battles are limited by the AP values of the armies participating in them. However, players can set limits in different battles, which means you'll be able to find acceptable opponents, regardless of your army's AP.

6. Army Rating
The rating system in World of Battles is based on an ELO model. Victories and defeats will change your army's rating, so it will be the primary badge of your combat prowess.

7. Gems & Gold
Units, equipment and any other valuables in World of Battles can be purchased with either gold or gems. An army receives gold as reward for battles (a small sum is also initially issued when a player creates his new custom army). Gems can be bought at gems shop and are used exclusively for valuable purchases, such as increasing the number of squads in an army, acquiring special units with unusual abilities and skills, and buying rare equipment and accessories.

8. Experience
Army units obtain experience after battles, based on the number and AP of defeated enemies. A unit's progress and rank is measured by this experience; a unit will be able to buy better and more diverse equipment with each new rank. Experience can also be spent to upgrade a unit's stats and skills.

9. Starting the battle
When an army is created, configured and equipped, you can put it to the test in battles by pressing the «To battle!» button in the Main Menu. You will be taken to the Battle Lobby, where you can communicate with other players, create a new battle or join an existing one.

Battles take place between two teams of players. When choosing sides and opponents, the AP of both teams should be about equal (minimal difference between teams' AP can be achieved by moving players between teams or customizing an army, removing or adding units). When all the players are ready and team APs are more or less equalized, a battle can be started.

10. Battle
Battles are real-time tactical war games, taking place on one of several different battlefields. They can be played in one of following modes:

  1.  Deathmatch - battle between two teams until one team is eliminated or the battle times out.
  2.  Arena - battle between two teams until a fixed amount of kills is reached; the eliminated army is fully respawned.
  3.  Quest - epic battle between the forces of Good and Evil, following a pre-defined scenario.

Before the battle starts you have one minute for initial disposition of your units.

11. Ending the battle
When your battle ends, a results screen will show the outcome of the battle and all the statistics, such as the number of soldiers slain and lost, and the amount of gold and experience earned for each unit. Players can choose to play another battle or exit the battlefield and manage their armies by spending experience to upgrade units and gold to buy equipment and items.
